The following giveaway is for UK residents only. International readers can hop to Caroline at Beauty is A Sleeping Cat for a chance to grab something for themselves. Please do – German Literature Month is only a fortnight away!
So UK people, what goodies do we have to offer today?
1 lucky person will bag themselves a set of 3 contemporary fiction titles courtesy of Peirene Press. All in their own way exceptional. I have reviewed Portrait of the Mother as a Young Woman, am wondering how time has passed me by so effectively that I failed to review Next World Novella (my favourite from Peirene) and I’m keeping Maybe This Time as a potential read for Swiss Week. Anyway there are loads of reviews for these 3 titles on the interweb, if you want to check them out. The books are all unique and you won’t find better reading material for German Literature Month anywhere.
I also have two copies of City-Lit Berlin from Oxygen Books. This is an anthology of writing set in the German capital. Writing from all over the world with quite a few pieces translated from German for the first time. It’s a wonderful book and, I would say, a perfect match for someone wanting to join in German Literature Month, but not knowing where to start.
As usual please leave a comment, if you’re interested in bagging yourself any of these. I ask only that you commit to reading them during German Literature Month (winner of the Peirene set need only read 1 – though all 3 would be brilliant) and tell me about your experience, either on your blog or in a comment if you don’t have a blog of your own. As this giveaway is for UK residents only and the books are being sent from the UK, they should be with you in plenty of time for your delectation during November.
Winners will be announced on Monday 24th October.
One lovely prize lizzie I ve read them all and own them but wish luck to those that enter all the best stu
Hi Lizzie
I would love to read any of the Peirene books or the City-Lit Berlin so please enter me, My email is cerievans1[at]gmail[dot]com. I have not read any of the three Peirene books though I have read a Spanish Peirene, Stone in a Landslide which was excellent. Many thanks, Ceri
I forgot to say I will read one of the Peirene’s this month. I haven’t got a blog but will contribute to comments here, if that is okay.
Hi Lizzy, Just wanted to say thanks for the Effi Briest, which arrived yesterday. Looking forward to the readalong. Please don’t enter me for this one, as I’ve read all the Peirene books – and besides, it’s someone else’s turn to win!
Hi Lizzy, please count me in katielodge (at) gmx.co.uk
I keep meaning to read Next World Novella, but my last trip to Amazon ended with Haushofer’s The Wall and Franck’s “Die Mittagsfrau” (not sure what the English is for that one) instead. I’d love to post a review on my somewhat new blog.
Giveaway closed.
Only two entries from the UK? What’s the matter? OK all giveaways will be international from now on.
Anyway Ceri, the very enjoyable Peirene set is yours and Katie, I shall send you a Berlin City-Lit. And I’m sending the second copy to my co-host, Caroline. She’s working very hard in the background and deserves a reward.
Many thanks, Lizzie. Do you want me to email you my details? Kind regards, Ceri
Yes please, Ceri. Email me at lizzysiddal AT yahoo dot com.
