Kindles, tablets, phones loaded with a selection of the 28 books that Seagull Books made available for free during lockdown? Bookshelves creaking under the weight of their fabulous selection of world literature? Yes?
Good. It’s time to read and review as many Seagull Books as possible in the next fortnight. To thank the publisher for their incredible generosity in the best way that readers can.
If you review a Seagull Book, physical or e-format, during the next fortnight on your blog, goodreads, instagram, or any other platform, please use #seagullbooksfortnight and/or leave a link in comments below and I’ll publish the review catalogue when the events ends.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we covered all the “lockdown” titles between us? Just a thought … no pressure. 😉
Gosh I might have a few Seagull Books around. I was embarrassed by the number of lock down titles I had sitting on my shelves waiting to be read and then, of course, I downloaded what was required to fill in the gaps. I’m not very good with challenges, but I’ll do my best to slip one in to this!
Some of them are very short. 😉 Glad to have you along, Joe.
I’ve got one by Toby Litt and another called The Book of Mordechai and Lazarus that I hadn’t heard of before. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else chooses!
I’ve read Black Diamond, The Hour Between Dog and Wolf. The Last Country is read in progress, and I’ve yet to pick a fourth. Am debating whether to push in a fifth …
I’ve read The Hour Between Dog and Wolf, Blue Jewellery which I found very disturbing and Seven Days in August. I have two more I would like to get read before the end of the fortnight. This is a good thing to do in thanks to a very generous publisher.
I managed one review–Wildfire. It’s here: https://roughghosts.com/2020/06/14/noticing-the-unnoticed-wildfire-by-banaphool/ It was a download but I bought mine in a real store! I also have a couple of Seagull poetry books on the go, but it takes me a long time to read and process a response to poetry so they will come in the future.
