I have a giveaway copy of Herman Koch’s The Dinner, courtesy of the publisher.
This is a dark, morally ambiguous read, as enjoyable but potentially as guilt-inducing as Death by Chocolate! Yummy but it comes with a health warning!
To enter, simply leave a comment with a description of your favourite dessert. The winning entry will be the one which makes me break my diet. Or if my willpower proves unbreakable, or, as is more likely, I decide to sample everything (!), random.org will be designated judge.
To be eligibile, entries must be made on this post. The winner will be chosen on Friday May 10. Competition is open internationally.
Keep it simple with a slice of KEY LIME PIE. Tart and light with whipped cream on top, nothing is better to my taste buds.

My favourite dessert is a little old fashioned, a little out of date (rather like me) – it’s Crepes Suzette. A beautiful thin crepe drizzled in a sauce of butter, sugar, orange juice and then the killer ingredient is Grand Marnier which is flambeed just before serving. The combination of sweet and citrus flavours is wonderful and the flaming liqueur is just such a theatrical touch!
‘Chocolate Decadence Dessert’
Ingredients:
Cooking spray
1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup 2percent reduced fat milk
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate, chopped
5 tablespoon all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoons semisweet chocolate chips
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350.
Lightly coat 4 (2-ounce) ramekins with cooking spray, and sprinkle 3/4 teaspoon sugar into each of the ramekins, shaking and turning to coat. Set prepared ramekins aside.
Combine 1/2cup plus 2tablespoons sugar, milk, and cocoa in a smell saucepan, stirring well with a wisk. Boiling to a boil over medium heat. Cook 30sec. Or until sugar dissolves, stirring constanly. Remove from heat; add the butter and 1/2 ounce sweetened chocolate. Stir until the chocolate mixture is smooth. Cool chocolate mixture 10min.
Add flour, vanilla, salt and egg white to chocolate mixture, stirring with a whisk just until blended. Spoon 2tablespoons chocolate mixture into each with 2teaspoons chocolate chips. Divide the remaining chocolate mixture evenly among ramekins, spreading to cover the chocolate chips. BAKE at 350 for min. Until barely set. Cool 10min. Invert dessert plates, serve warm.
ME AND MY FAMILY LOVE IT, TRY IT
I appologize in advance: my favorite dessert is a Nutella cake-in-a-mug recipe that’s so good and easy to make, it’s highly addictive!
You just have to mix 4 tablespoons of self rising flour, 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, 3 tablespoons of sugar , 1 egg , 3 tablespoons of Nutella , 3 tablespoons of milk and 3 tablespoons of light olive oil, pour the mix in 2 mugs (they should be 2/3 full), heat in the microwave for 1 minute 15-30 and BAM! Nutella cake in a mug!
Giveaway closed and my sweet tooth loves all these suggestions. So I delegated to random.org and it chose #2. Congrats Robin! I’ll be in touch to get your details directly.
