The challenge of predicting the Booker longlist is that there’s no knowing if your choices have even been entered in the first place. But I can’t resist taking a pop at this, if only to heighten my anticipation for tomorrow’s announcement. Assembled with an expertise derived mainly from my TBRs – both real (10 titles) and virtual (3). On that basis, this list tells you more about my reading tastes than anything else. Any resemblance to the real Booker 2010 longlist will be purely coincidental.

EDIT: There’s another booker jury I’m not attuned to ……. While I have 10 of my list in the TBR, I only have 3 of the real longlist (Mitchell, Moore and Galgut). Oh well, that’s another year I’ll not be getting that involved …..
Interesting list. I hadn’t thought of February. I predicted that it would make the Orange list, was surprised when it didn’t and then forgot all about it 🙂
I haven’t heard of many from your list. The Temple, Robertson, Peile, Clarke and Forna are all new to me. The rest of your predictions are very similar to mine – I’d be very surprised if Mitchell, McEwan, Carey and Syjuco didn’t make the it through.
I’m really looking forward to the Booker long list. I’m hoping I’ll discover some wonderful new books as a result of it.
I’ve got my fingers crossed for Peter Temple and will be astonished if David Mitchell isn’t included, like Jackie I’m hoping the list will have some wonderful new books for me to discover!
‘The Still Point’ what a good idea! Fantastic book.

Forna ftw!
Very interesting list! I’d love if later today it actually was as diverse and surprising as yours is. I love when new-to-me books are brought to my attention; I’ve immediately added the Peile to my wishlist.
I’d love to see The Still Point longlisted; beautiful book.
Hi, I hopped on your link from Jackie’s blog 🙂
I haven’t read any of these but some I’m going to get when the paperback comes out. I can only judge by cover and I have to say that The Memory of Love has one of the loveliest covers! Yes when you haven’t read the books you compare covers instead!
I’ve picked up some new books to try from this list though, thanks!
