  1. I have four favorites among the writers listed here : Jane Austen, William Boyd, Barry Unsworth, and Richard Yates. I absolutely loved William Boyd’s early novels such as “A Good Man in Africa” and “The Ice Cream Wars” and “Brazzaville Beach”, but haven’t enjoyed so much his recent work.

    1. I completely agree about Boyd’s early output being superior to his current thrillers. But I guess he has to pay the bills somehow …

  2. Great list … and a lovely way of keeping track of favourite writers that you want to complete. One question though…I am intrigued by the dates you have given for the unfinished Jane Austens. I’m guessing they are the dates of first publication? They look weird because they are after her death…

  3. Hi, I just thought I’d post and inform you that your website layout is really screwed up on the Firefox browser. Seems to work ok in Internet Explorer however. Anyhow keep up the good work.

  4. What a great idea. Now you’ve got me wondering which authors deserve my commitment like this (although Austen is definitely already on there).
