It’s classics week on German Literature Month, which could be a bit of a problem when it comes to choosing something that hasn’t already been read by most German Literature Month participants. It could be, but I think we have a solution. How about picking your own?
This week, One World Classics, are offering two people the opportunity to pick any two classics from their fantastic German literature list. Even the most well-read classics afficionado will be able to find something appealing here! As you can see from the book pile on the left, I found more than enough when I visited their website last month! Everything was 40% off, and it still is, which will explain why some titles are out-of-stock. So don’t pick them, will you?
To enter, name your pick and mix selection in comments. The giveaway is open to all who have participated in German Literature month thus far, either through blogging or in comments. No need to have a blog of your own.
Winners will be announced on Sunday 27.11.2011.
Oh, these look so great! Goethe, and Hoffmann, and I’ve been trying to find a copy of Peter Schlemihl…
I’d probably pick Wilhelm Meister, because it seems to be hard to find a good translation of it, and The Devil’s Elixirs, because I’ve yet to read any of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s books.
Great giveaway. Chamisso’s Peter Schlemihl is already on my list, so I’ll put that down as my first choice, and as my second I suppose I’ll put down Elective Affinities (to replace a copy so damaged that I’ve never been able to get through more than a few pages without giving up in exasperation). Thanks!
I’m a fan of One World Classics. I’ll try for Immensee & Other Stories and Wilhelm Meister. Thanks
Hi, can you put me down for Fried’s Love Poems & Kafka’s Dearest Father, thanks.
Also can I be a tad cheeky & mention that if anyone here is on Twitter @pomesallsizes has a great selection of German Poetry.
Thanks again .
Parrish
I love your giveaway. I would choose Fried’s Love Poems and Eichendorff’s Memoirs of a good-for-nothing.
Thank you!
Great give away 🙂 I want to learn to read more classic but still under the same genre I like. I would like to choose The Devil’s Elixir by ETA Hoffmann cause I have just read his short story, and The Black spider by Jeremias Gotthelf
Happy to see the enthusiasm for this giveaway. However, Wilhelm Meister is showing as out-of-stock on the One World Classics website. Susanna and Guy, please pick an alternative – just in case ….
Would love to have a chance of winning ‘Elective Affinities’ and ‘The Devil’s Elixirs’. Oneworld Classics are so handsome (real kindle antidotes).
Really enjoyed the month. Sterling work by all concerned.
Hi Lizzie. Would love to enter the giveaway, I like the look of Memoirs of a Good for Nothing and Spring Awakening. Many thanks, Ceri
Another awesome giveaway! Please enter me for ‘Elective Affinities’ and ‘The Devil’s Elixirs’.
Thanks,
Rise
Please count me in! My choices are “Mozart’s Journey to Prague” and “Elective Affinities”.
Thanks!
Nice editions, and another nice giveaway. Thanks Lizzy.
I’ll put down The Black Spider and Kafka’s Letters to Friends, Family and Editors.
Immensee & Other Stories & The Devil’s Elixir. Thanks. (Bought a used Wilhelm Meister)
I am late in commenting, but I hope I have made it just in time before the deadline 🙂 I would love to have ‘Spring Awakening’ by Frank Wedekind and ‘Memoirs of a Good for Nothing’ by Joseph von Eichendorff.
Squeezed in nicely there, Vishy. I’ve been out all day. But now the giveaway is closed ……
Glad to know that I was able to squeeze in 🙂
