The Königssee in Bavaria – admittedly a bit of a tourist trap these days, but even so, once you get onto the boats and into the centre of the lake, the C21st century simply drops away as the pleasures of the panoramic views take over. Cue boat trip.



I’ve no idea if the contents of Stifter’s novella take place at the Königssee, but those pictures have ensured that I’ll be finding out this week.
