Thanks for pointing me across to your review - always so interesting to see what other people think of a book I've recently read - like a virtual book group! It won't surprise you, after reading my review, that I skimmed most of Chp. 4...

Thanks Mockduck.

Yes, the more I think about it, the more the non-literal reading makes sense. However, the ending is much much more satisfying in the literal context!

Very interesting review. And I'm glad you mentioned the wish to put it aside after Ch.4 as I, too, had a very similar reaction and a slight distrust as to where I was being taken.

But I am very glad I persevered. I think I'm of the "other, non-literal reading" camp. But it's fascinating how it can be read either way and that's one of the things i think is very good about it.

I loved the language - in which i believe are a few clues also - but besides that I just loved the language so perhaps that is just something people go for or don't.

Interesting review, though, I enjoyed that a lot.

Many many thanks for this detailed review. The book is released tomorrow (woohoo!!) so it's perfect timing!! Right, off to attempt to sleep, whilst battling the worst ever case of Christmas Eve type excitement!! I must calm down or I'll be sent to sleep on the settee. Thanks again, Lisa.
